eography

The city is located on the north side of the river Erebus and serves as a major trading port between the highlands and the lowlands of [Country]. Part of its name derives from the large bridge which crosses at the top of the falls, along which a major trading route has been established.

The Tumblestone Falls complete the name of the city, consisting of a series of water eroded smooth stone monoliths, between which many round boulders carried down the river become wedged. As such, the water tumbles gently down and serves as a picturesque scene for many artists and travelers. At the base of the cliff lays a small thin lake, which gradually separates out in many tendrils as it flows into the Barnaugh Marshlands, and further along to the Erebus estuary which feeds into the sea.

nemies & Allies

The city is a well established trading hub with few if any enemies. Well within the borders of [country], it has links to the many smaller water channels in the lowlands and notable contracts with turquoise mines to the north and the capital further up the Erebus river.

If any groups were to serve a detriment to the city, it would have to be a growing cult within the smaller lowland communities. The followers of their religion are said to practice strange rituals and known to be aggressive with their beliefs, causing many violent confrontations with those whom they can’t convert.

Sewers of Tumblestone Cross

The sewer system of Tumblestone Cross is particularly treacherous as it consists of multiple tiers built atop each other over the ages. Locals say Tumblestone Cross has two waterfalls, the beautiful sunlit falls outside, and the murky honeycomb of sewer networks beneath the streets. It is also of note that this maze of tunnels and passages possibly covers even older structures, if legends are to be believed about the city’s founding.
