Bandar

The Empire of Bandar controls the largest part of Ferro, known as the gold belt. It’s plains and wide open spaces gave the Bandarians easy access to land, which fueled their expansion across the large southern half of the continent in the past. Their leaders seek control and order above all else. At present, they have accepted contact with the known world rather tepidly, seeing foreigners as more of a nuisance than anything. Port Shilus is the largest port on the east coast, and your best chance if you wish to head inland, but beware of crime as the city’s population is quickly outgrowing it’s ability to maintain order.

ulture

Bandar prizes order and discipline over all, training their people as citizen soldiers from a young age. Conscription is mandatory for a period of time, either serving as a soldier in the army or as a civil servant. Even with this militaristic lifestyle, as one moves away from the large walled cities the authoritarian rule relaxes and gives way to local governing representatives. Most of the citizens in rural areas tend to serve as conscript farmers, and live simply without major ambitions beyond a better yield than the previous year.
In the cities, bureaucrats and civil servants work in various non-physical jobs, while rogues, thieves, & criminal elements tend to run inevitable black markets, backed by various corrupt officials. Merchants are segregated to specific quarters as Bandarian culture views currency as an agent of chaos and so tends to shun those who deal in it. Magic is tolerated but not encouraged, and any wizardry is highly regulated to prevent the spread of “anarchic agents of chaos”.

nemies & Allies
Bandar is an ancestral foe of Gamba, waging various wars against the adjacent kingdom since the wild times when the kingdoms were no more than loosely grouped tribes. They are callously racist towards Skahlians, but currently have not directed their ire to the north. Whether this be due to a fear of their dragons, or simply a matter of logistics is up for debate.
