Duskstone Forest

Duskstone Forest is a sleepy in the wooded foothills south of Fort Lobo.

istory
The Duskstone forest was discovered during the second expedition of Bandar in the Ferronian 2nd Century of Expansion (40th year of the Second Era).
During this time, the fledgling kingdoms of Ferro were looking to grow as they settled into a more stable form of civilization. Villages became towns, towns became cities, and it became all too important to know whether bands of roaming bandit tribes were nearby. Heroes of this time were of a more adventurous mindset, and many explorers set out to map their humble continent.

eography
Located near the northern edge of the kingdom of Bandar, the golden plains begin to break and rise into gentle green hills. I have traveled here once before during the summer and the abundance of dense green forests and friendly natives knows no end.
Duskstone forest itself takes its name from the dense canopy of trees which form a permanent shade on the rocky forest floor. There are many large boulders deeper within the woods here, covered in ancient carvings of unknown origin. The sleepy atmosphere and bountiful wildlife bring a sense of peace as one travels here. Small brooks bubble down from pure springs into the valleys. In these cozy basins rest local villages and fields which are periodically flooded, similar to the irrigation techniques encountered in neighboring Gamba.

Duskstone Hollow
Duskstone hollow can be found by first traveling to the settlement of Greenrock. Follow the stream that intersects the town west until it branches off into a creek that runs north into the hills. The creek is dry most of the time and is considered a favorite spot to the local children who claim fairies live there. Continue up as the creek rises into the hills and you will come to Duskstone Hollow. The Hollow contains a large round pool which does not seem to overflow even though it is fed by a small waterfall.

Mysterious Disappearances
Currently there are reports of both travelers and locals going missing when traveling in the forests near Duskstone Hollow.
The children still play but have been speaking of odd encounters every now and then.
They have also been singing a strange song. It goes as follows:
If you wake-up in the night
Climb up to Duskstone Hollow
Walk along in the moonlight
The Fairies all will followBut beware the bogey tree
Get too close and you will see
Snatch you up and disappear
He’s the one we all must fear! And the green man with red eyes
–Children’s Song
Walks along and grows in size
Turn your back and he’ll be gone
Dance and sing and play till dawn
