Battle of Fort Lobo

A massive conflict during the Bandar-Skahlian war. During the fighting, the wall withstood dragonfire and siege. It resulted in a great Bandarian victory and has entered their tales of heroics among the populace.

Architecture & Location

The fort is built into the wall itself, it’s northern fortifications rising more than 100 meters above the beach. The beach ends at a field which runs parallel to the wall and extends further northward for 150 meters, acting as a buffer to alert soldiers to incoming attacks. The beach extends northward as far as the eye can see up the coast; Beyond the field the thick forests of the untamed wilderness extend beyond the horizon to the north and east. To the west, the wall runs from Fort Volpe many meters into the sea before ending at a lone watchtower.

The fortress proper is comprised of multiple large terraces which gradually step down southward until reaching ground level. The upper tiers house barracks, munitions depots, armories, & command rooms. As the tiers descend, one can find storehouses, workshops, mess halls, and various logistical facilities. The lower tiers are heavily fortified and lead down to a coastal road. A fishing town lies to the south and flourishes as the source of entertainment for the garrison. Although not as large as Lobo, Volpe is still a sizeable fortification and acts as a bastion against any coastal hostilities from Skahlia, which lies to the north.

Passage

Northward passage to the wilderness is usually allowed unless the fort comes under attack, in which case the fort goes into a form of lockdown until the threat is overcome. Southward passage is strictly controlled and usually requires trade papers or a passport from one of the neighboring kingdoms. Skahlian traders are more welcome here than at Fort Lobo, but they are still treated with slight animosity due to the contempt the two kingdoms share for one another. Currently anyone arriving from Gamba is harshly interrogated, imprisoned, or denied entry as the two kingdoms are at war.

Watchtower

They say the watchtower holds a small wizard’s laboratory where adepts and scholars may study the properties of the sea.
