Three Stones

Three Stones, named after the three large rock formations which surround town, lies adjacent to one of the few deep water coves along the Eastern Run. The last of the old colonies which once dotted the coast, Three Stones now remains as the only safe harbor within 1000 leagues. A shadow of its former glory, the now sleepy port is lacking in the finer luxuries of the known world yet still seen by many noble & explorer alike as a point of entry into the vast jungles of Shahar.

Three Stones
It is said that when first exploring the area, the Red House Trading Company noted that the large stone formations seemed to move mysteriously in the night. Due to the nature of Shahar and the moon’s lack of light over the continent, determining the cause of the phenomena in the darkness remains difficult and is considered a sailor’s myth meant to scare others away from trade in the region.
At present the stones positions have remained at their current locations and so would point more towards mere tall tales rather than fact.
The Jungle

The town proper is ringed by the three stone formations at the perimeter. A crudely built stone wall runs from formation to formation, but over time has fallen into disrepair, inevitably resolving to become covered in vines and vegetation from the creeping forest. Various fishermen and ne’er-do-wells maintain scattered hovels and bungalows beyond this wall. Even so, safety cannot be guaranteed, whether due to the xenophobic nature of said rogues or other more ambiguous predators. It is said that the jungle conceals both good and bad deeds alike, and one “kind” man suggested we make the most of our now hidden venture and visit a local gambling den.

Past the various dens of ill repute, no one, save for the rare outcast, make their homes more than a few miles from the town.
A few paces beyond the third mile an old abandoned stone marker indicates the farthest most reaches of the town, and one can be most assured they are under their own aegis and should regard every further step with caution. This humble scholar now writes here that he did not cross said marker and so cannot provide information further than a warning. The jungle calls.

Trade Hub
Serving as a safe stop for fresh water and supplies, Three Stones acts as the midway point between the city-state of Lis and the Southern Continents while also being relatively close for any vessels coming from the Rift, albeit obstructed by the violent waters east of Shahar. Due to this, many mysterious trinkets tend to make their way to the market here, much to the delight of the Guild of Antiquities. Masses of Gisek scholars and Guild members alike visit to seek cheap ingredients, curios, oddities and so called “taboo” artifacts of various wonderment.
Tourism
“I have encountered in town on more than one occasion groups of young nobles seeking plunder and animal trophies from the continent’s interior. To my surprise, they blatantly disregard the obvious dangers of both the continent of Shahar and the Jungle itself. And so I say, with some amusement, that these heedless patrons often fall prey to individuals of a more opportunistic nature. Specifically those offering porter work and guided tours into the rainforest. Fair warning to always mind your companions on your travels, avid reader, as trust is hard to come by in far away lands and skilled guides even rarer still.”

Attempts at Expansion
For many centuries since the discovery of Shahar, expeditions have set out to map and explore the deep foreboding jungle that comprises the southern half of the continent. Three Stones in particular stood out as remarkable location due to the unusually low amounts of dangerous flora and fauna. Why this area is particularly sheltered from the bestial horrors of the interior remains the topic of debate, but the fact remains that Three Stones has become a landing for any who seek further access to this green hell.
